Ribeye Ranch

I met this guy on a forum by accident, and the project became one of the coolest logos I’ve ever made. Inspired by the coolest NBA logos (Chicago Bulls, Charlotte Hornets…) from a golden era in the USA.

Ribeye Ranch — Branding — Packaging — Social

Target audience, first and foremost.

The business model is simple: a guy in Missouri owns a few trucks, buys meat in bulk and supplies restaurants. Since most restaurant owners grew up in that golden era, I immediately thought of the NBA stuff: the bull, the hornet, the cool flames. The logo alone took 80 hours of drawing in Affinity Designer V2, scrolling through meat photos to get a realistic fibre and marbling pattern.

I was gutted when he told me he needed a steak “a bit more beefy”, as I’d made something closer to the cartoon tomahawk you see in movies. So once I fattened the steak up a bit, it was immediately approved, and I started work on the rest of the brand.

The mark, and the apron it was made for.

Three rubs, one shelf.

I really like those “gift spices” I designed to go out with orders, and I still wish I’d asked for some recipes. Maybe one day I’ll ask him and post the recipes here in a blog post.

Ribeye Ranch, Southern and Italian seasoning blends.

From the hoodie to the pickup.

I designed the merch the way I’d want to wear it, so it would look cool rather than gimmicky, unlike brands that slap their logo everywhere without any actual meaning.

A few templates and some inspiration to get him started if he hires a social media manager, following the brand book I made.

So, yeah.

Yeehaw, an American client. Now I can pretend to be Mister Worldwide!

I really suffered on that logo, but it was worth it. I still plan to get an embroidered hoodie with the logo (not printed, but stitched by one of those fancy machines). Grateful he gave me a chance to work on this, a stranger on the other side of the world.
